Suicide Prevention Project

The project “EXPLORING THE RISK FACTORS CONTRIBUTING TO SUICIDE ATTEMPT AND STRATEGIES FOR SUICIDE PREVENTION AMONG MEN AND WOMEN IN NIGERIA” seeks to explore the reasons for increase in suicide attempts and fatalities by suicide which has been on the rise in Nigeria.

The sensitivity of the phenomenon of suicide has resulted in a dearth of data and consequently knowledge relevant to depression suicide in Nigeria, particularly among the adult population. This research will therefore contribute in no small measure to the body of research on trends and patterns in suicide rate among men and women in Nigeria, the risk factors contributing to suicide attempts, the manner in which people attempt to commit suicide and explore possible exhaustive strategies for suicide prevention.
