CGSPS Bespoke Residential Face to Face Certificate Courses

In November 2016, the Centre for Gender and Social Policy Studies will begin to offer Bespoke Residential 2-4 weeks training in gender and development targeting personnel in key sectors of the polity; local government workers, health workers, leaders in the education sector, development practitioners, social workers, political office holders, officers in the system of administration of justice, personnel of the human resource departments of government, business and other for profit organizations, Faculty, and administrators in the university system.

The Bespoke Residential Certificate Courses in gender and development would be foundational programmes for persons seeking to understand: women and men’s status; gender relations; the nexus of gender and other social justice issues; and how these impact the well being and quality of life of individuals and communities, and the indicators of development. Persons who wish to mainstream gender into practice, policy, knowledge production and theory building processes would also have much to gain from the certificate programmes.

The Centre encourages employers, philanthropists, funding agencies, and development agencies to sponsor specific categories of employees, community members and stakeholders to attend the certificate courses.

Coming Soon: 2016 CGSPS Annual Lecture and Endowment. Theme: Activist Women Across Generations

This programme will take place on Wednesday 30th November 2016. The theme of the programme is: Activist Women Across Generations. The activities included in the CGSPS Annual Lecture and Endowment for the year 2016 are:

1) Lecture by a distinguished Nigerian;
2) Awards to generations of women activists who have impacted the Nigerian polity in distinct ways;
3) Scholarship Awards to female students; and
4) Fundraising and announcement of support already received by the Centre.

Call for Papers: African Journal of Gender and Development (AJGD)

In line with the need to focus contributions to her bi-annual journal, the African Journal of Gender and Development (AJGD), the Centre for Gender and Social Policy Studies has taken the decision to theme all editions of the journal. The theme of the April 2017 edition of the journal is: Gender and Health in Developing Countries.  Two experts in the fields of gender and health would serve as guest editors for the edition.  This is a call for papers for the April 2017 edition of AJGD.  Please note the important dates highlighted below.

Important Dates

October 10 – November 10, 2016: Call for papers and submission of manuscripts for April Edition of AJGD

November 11 – December 11, 2016: Review of manuscripts and feedback to authors

December 12 – January 12, 2016: Revision of manuscripts by authors

January 13 – January 27, 2017: 2nd round of review and revisions

January 28 – February 11, 2017: Submission of final revised manuscripts

About AJGD

African Journal of Gender and Development (AJGD) publishes original research studies and essays that focus on gender, and explore the intersection of gender and development issues in fields of studies such as the humanities, law, social sciences, education, agriculture, medicine and public health, and science and technology.  It also publishes the review of books that make critical, theoretical and constructive contributions to understanding gender relations, especially from an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary perspective.  AJGD is a bi-annual, double blind peer-reviewed journal of the Centre for Gender and Social Policy Studies (CGSPS), Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria, and it is published twice a year, in April and October.  The Editorial Board is committed to the quick review of manuscripts. Papers that have been previously copyrighted, published, or accepted for publication elsewhere will not be considered for publication in the journal.
